WHO WE ARE
Pleasant Foundation Sierra Leone is a human right, child aid, women and youth organization that seeks to improve the welfare of children, youths and women who are considered to be of lesser voices. Pleasant Foundation currently targets the most vulnerable groups of people in the country and with specific preference to rural communities which are considered to be the most populated and disadvantaged communities in Sierra Leone.
Sierra Leone is a post-conflict country which is struggling to emerge from shocks of one decade of civil war, the world’s deadliest Ebola virus outbreak and the recently destructive mudslide which has left many children orphaned and challenged in socio-economic sphere coupled with the Global Corona pandemic that is ravaging the world. These shocks placed heavy burden to already weak economy and society which is unable to adequately meet the basic human rights of her citizens such as education, health and Empowerment of Youths
In response to these challenges, Pleasant Foundation will focus on these major programmatic areas including; children’s education, youth and women empowerment underpinned by cross cutting issues such as child protection and sexual and gender based violence (SGBV) prevention for women that have been neglected by the society, sexual and Reproductive Health Rights, safe space Hub, Adolescent counselling and mentoring, Peace and Security,
Meanwhile, as a Non-Governmental Organization (NGO) with solid knowledge of the situation of children, youth and women in the country, we realized the need for promoting continuous learning and youth empowerment strategies to come to the aid of the less privileged people.
